Brazilian legend Rivaldo announces his retirement from football
Former World Cup winner and World Player of the Year Rivaldo announced his retirement from football on Saturday.

The former Brazil and Barcelona legend released a statement on his personal Instagram account revealing his decision to retire.
"With tears in my eyes today I would like to first thank God, my family and all the support, the affection that I received during those 24 years as a player. Today I communicate to all my fans in the world, my history as a player came to the end."
The 41-year-old started his senior career with Santa Cruz in 1991, and most recently played for Mogi Mirim of Brazil.
In addition to winning the World Cup in 2002 and Champions League in 2003, Rivaldo was also named the FIFA World Player of they Year and European Footballer of the Year during the 1999 season with Barcelona.
Rivaldo rose to fame during his spell with Barcelona, finishing his Blaugrana career with 86 goals in 157 appearances.
