Report: Roma, Juventus set to swap Pellegrini for Spinazzola
Roma and Juventus are reportedly nearing a swap deal that would see I Giallorossi send the current Scudetto holders an emerging left-back and the Old Lady ship a ready-made one the other way.
Off to Juventus is 20-year-old Italian youth international Luca Pellegrini, while 26-year-old, seven-time capped Azzurri defender Leonardo Spinazzola will enlist in the Eternal City, according to a report from the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.
Reports suggest Roma have sweetened the pot by sending €10 million plus Pellegrini to Turin for Spinazzola, who's been valued at €25 million. It could be the latest transfer coup for a Juventus side accustomed to making sage summer additions.
Luca, not to be confused with 23-year-old Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, will likely serve in a backup role behind Alex Sandro, while Spinazzola represents a long-term replacement for Aleksandar Kolarov.
Pellegrini spent the second half of last season on loan at Cagliari, where he made a dozen appearances for the club.
Spinazzola featured 10 times in the league for Juve after spending much of the 2018-19 campaign on the treatment table. The right-footed player can also deputize at right-back - a perk that may benefit a team cursed by repeated injuries to Rick Karsdorp and Alessandro Florenzi.
