Zenit signs Paredes from Roma for €23M
Zenit St. Petersburg announced Saturday the club has acquired midfielder Leandro Paredes from AS Roma, signing the Argentine international to a four-year contract.
Paredes joins for an initial fee of €23 million, with an additional €4 million in performance-related clauses, the Italian outfit revealed.
The 23-year-old ex-Boca Juniors man joined Roma in 2014 and was one of a number of players linked with a move away from the club as new sporting director Monchi brings sweeping changes to the capital side.
Paredes made 54 appearances for Roma, scoring four goals, including a rocket strike against Torino that left Joe Hart stunned back in February. He also spent the 2015-16 on loan at Empoli.
"Zenit are delighted to welcome Leandro Paredes to St. Petersburg and wish him good luck with the blue-white-sky blues!" the Russian outfit wrote in a club-issued statement.
