Atalanta snaps up Milan youngster Luca Vido
Italy Under-20 forward Luca Vido is set to make the short trip northeast from Milan to the foothills of the Bergamo Alps to join Serie A darling Atalanta.
La Dea announced the signing of the AC Milan academy product Saturday with a statement on its website, adding that the 20-year-old joins the club on a permanent deal. Further details of the transfer were not disclosed by either party.
For Vido, a shift to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia should present more first-team opportunities than at Milan, especially after I Rossoneri kicked off the summer transfer window with a slew of high-profile additions.
After joining Milan's youth set-up in 2011 from Padova, Vido was handed a first-team call-up in 2015.
He did not make a single appearance for the club, and was loaned to second-tier Cittadella, where he made his professional debut in a February clash with Pro Vercelli. In a dozen matches with Citta, Vido bagged four goals before joining up with Italy's Under-20 squad for the 2017 World Cup in South Korea.
A centre-forward by trade, Vido scored an extra-time winner against Zambia at the quarter-final stage before bowing out to eventual winner England one round later. Italy would go on to top Uruguay in penalties for third-place honours, with Vido scoring the first of Italy's spot kicks.
