AS Roma announced Monday that midfielder Kevin Strootman has agreed to a new deal with the club until the summer of 2022.
The 27-year-old joined the capital outfit out of PSV Eindhoven in 2013 and has made 86 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 times. He picked up a knee injury in 2014 and has been sidelined for much of the last two years. He returned to make 33 appearances in Serie A this season, however.
"This extension is special for me," the Dutch international said. "I really want to win something here, and I will do everything I can to achieve that. Everyone at the club was behind me during my injury, and that is another reason I am delighted to stay."
