Gonzalo Higuain is now joint top the Serie A goal-scoring table with a half-dozen tallies after his brace Saturday at Empoli cemented a result that was hardly in question.

After Max Allegri's lot wasted a pair of good chances in the opening half, Paulo Dybala put the Old Lady on the board in the 65th with a short-range rocket before Higuain bested his mate's effort two minutes later with a stunning solo effort on his off foot.

The former Napoli striker made it two three minutes later courtesy of his tireless work, making a fool of Empoli's Marco Zambelli before eluding a befuddled Lukasz Skorupski to make it 3-0 for the five-time defending Scudetto winner.
