NBA agent Dan Fegan died Sunday morning when the vehicle he was driving was hit by a bus on Highway 82 near Aspen, Co., the Colorado State Patrol announced, per Erica Robbie of The Aspen Times.

"The NBA family mourns the loss of longtime agent Dan Fegan," the league said in a brief statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time."

According to the state patrol's report, the bus collided with Fegan's SUV when Fegan attempted to merge onto the highway.

The two other people who were in the car with Fegan - his five-year-old son and an unidentified 29-year-old woman - were airlifted to a hospital in Denver with serious injuries, Colorado state trooper Gabe Easton said, according to Robbie.

There was just one passenger on the bus, and neither he nor the driver were injured, Easton said.

Fegan, 56, was long one of the game's most prominent and influential agents, representing the likes of John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Dwight Howard, DeAndre Jordan, Shawn Marion, Chandler Parsons, Jrue Holiday, Joakim Noah, and Ricky Rubio. He had recently lost the majority of his high-profile clientele after the agency he worked for, Independent Sports & Entertainment, severed ties with him - and later sued him for violating a non-compete agreement - last March.

Per RealGM, the only active NBAer Fegan was representing was Toronto Raptors center Lucas Nogueira.
