Alabama running back Jam Miller is expected to miss the team's season-opening game against Florida State on Aug. 30 after undergoing a procedure on an upper-body injury, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach.

Miller hurt his collarbone, sources told Brett McMurphy of On3. Alabama is hopeful that he will be back for its matchup against Georgia on Sept. 27.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer announced Sunday that the running back had surgery after suffering the upper-body injury in Saturday's scrimmage. He added that a timetable on a return is still to be determined but that Miller would make a full recovery.

Miller's 688 rushing yards in 2024 were the most of any Alabama running back last season. Only quarterback Jalen Milroe had more rushing yards with 726.

Richard Young figures to take over starting duties until Miller gets back. Behind Young are Daniel Hill and Dre Washington, among other running backs.
