The Baltimore Orioles traded veteran right-hander Charlie Morton and cash considerations to the Detroit Tigers for left-hander Micah Ashman, the teams announced Thursday.

Morton has struggled this season, posting a 7-8 record with a 5.42 ERA and 4.84 FIP. The 41-year-old joined the Orioles over the winter on a one-year, $15-million contract.

However, Morton brings plenty of playoff experience to Detroit, owning a 3.60 ERA over 18 career postseason appearances. He won the World Series with the Houston Astros in 2017 and the Atlanta Braves in 2021.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch led the Astros for Morton's two-year tenure in Houston.

Ashman heads to Baltimore after recording a 1.60 ERA and 10.5 K/9 in 28 minor-league appearances for High-A West Michigan this season.

Detroit has a nine-game cushion atop the American League Central.
