Daboll: Dart has 'fit right in' with Giants quarterbacks

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is managing to stand out amid the Giants' crowded quarterback room as New York opened minicamp Tuesday.

"He's fit right in with those guys," head coach Brian Daboll said. "He's smart. He's aggressive with the football, which I like. And then the true test will be once we start and there's live hitting and preseason games and things like that. But he's progressed since he's been here to where he is now. He's made good improvement."

The 2025 25th overall pick is competing with fellow signal-callers Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy DeVito this offseason. Dart spent most of the spring working out with the third-team offense, but he's recently taken reps with the second- and first-team units, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

"Well, it's good to get him in with the ones," Daboll said. "There's usually a level of anxiety at times for young players when they get thrown into the mix. It's not exactly planned in terms of he's getting rep three. Sometimes, we'll just say, 'Get in there.' Then he's calling plays in front of veterans that have done it at a high level. I think that's important."

"It's been impressive to see the last couple weeks just how he's prepared and made the transition to becoming a pro," quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney said.

Wilson has received a majority of snaps with the Giants' first-team offense. However, Dart will have plenty of opportunity to build on his strong start when New York opens its preseason schedule against the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 9.
