White Sox demote Vaughn to minors

The Chicago White Sox optioned first baseman Andrew Vaughn to Triple-A Charlotte, the team announced Friday.

Vaughn was sent down as part of a roster transaction which included outfielders Andrew Benintendi and Mike Tauchman being reinstated from the injured list and infielder Tim Elko being optioned.

The 27-year-old Vaughn has hit .189/.218/.314 with 43 strikeouts in 48 games.

The third overall pick in the 2019 draft has been a mainstay at first base for the White Sox, appearing in 610 games since 2021.

Vaughn's best campaign was in 2022, when he hit 17 homers with a .750 OPS (111 OPS+).
