Report: Patriots splurge by adding Davis, Spillane, Moses
The New England Patriots opened the first day of legal tampering with a splash.
The Patriots are signing former Detroit Lions cornerback Carlton Davis to a three-year, $60-million deal, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. New England is also adding former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Robert Spillane on a three-year, $37.5-million deal, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports.
The Patriots are signing veteran right tackle Morgan Moses to a three-year, $24-million pact as well, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The 34-year-old tackle started 14 games for the New York Jets last season.
Davis, 28, grabbed two interceptions across 13 starts last season. A second-round selection of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018, Davis has 11 career interceptions.
Spillane recorded a career-high 158 tackles last season while also posting two interceptions and two sacks. The 29-year-old, who joined the Raiders in 2023, started all 34 possible games for Las Vegas and recorded 306 tackles, including 5.5 sacks, and five interceptions.
Spillane's also had stints with the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers.
New England went 4-13 last season with an offense that finished 30th in scoring and a defense that ranked 22nd in points allowed.
