The Chicago Cubs are working hard to acquire Miami Marlins left-hander Jesús Luzardo, according to 670 The Score's Bruce Levine.

Luzardo, who's arbitration-eligible through 2026, posted a 5.00 ERA with 1.25 WHIP and 58 strikeouts over 66 2/3 innings (12 starts) during an injury-plagued 2024 campaign. However, the 27-year-old authored a 3.48 ERA with 10.6 K/9 over a combined 279 innings (50 starts) across 2022-23.

Chicago is currently projected to begin 2025 with a starting rotation of Shota Imanaga, Justin Steele, Jameson Taillon, Matthew Boyd, and Javier Assad.

The team would have four left-handers in the rotation if it successfully lands Luzardo.

The Cubs already made a major splash this offseason by trading for All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker in a deal that saw infielder Isaac Paredes, right-hander Hayden Wesneski, and third-base prospect Cam Smith head to the Houston Astros.
