The Dallas Stars extended the contract of Esa Lindell on Tuesday, and then they re-upped another key piece of their blue line about seven hours later.

Thomas Harley inked a two-year contract with an average annual value of $4 million, the club announced.

The two sides had been working on a bridge contract, according to TSN's Darren Dreger, who added that there were "ongoing discussions."

Harley, who was a restricted free agent, is coming off a breakout year in which he tallied 15 goals and 32 assists in 79 games while logging 21:01 per contest. He added four assists in 19 postseason appearances.

The mobile, 6-foot-3 defender played primarily on Dallas' top pairing with Miro Heiskanen last season.

Harley is under team control until 2029, so the Stars could've signed him for up to four years without walking him directly to unrestricted free agency.

The Stars drafted Harley 18th overall in 2019.
