Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon will miss the entire 2024 season due to a neck injury, the team announced.

Dillon landed on injured reserve without a return designation as the Packers reduced their main roster to 53 players Tuesday.

The 26-year-old played his first four NFL seasons with Green Bay and returned to the team on a one-year deal this past offseason.

The 2020 second-round pick set a career high with 803 rushing yards (4.3 per carry) and 1,116 scrimmage yards in 2021 but hasn't been able to replicate that success. He rushed for 613 yards with a career-low 3.4 yards per attempt in 2023. Dillon has scored 18 total touchdowns in 60 appearances with the Packers.

The former Boston College stud was expected to serve as a backup behind running back Josh Jacobs in 2024. The Packers' RB depth has been tested this year, as third-round rookie tailback MarShawn Lloyd is also dealing with a hamstring injury. Lloyd was expected to begin the regular season on injured reserve, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, but Green Bay didn't announce the move Tuesday.

The only other running back on the Packers' current depth chart is 2023 undrafted free agent Emanuel Wilson.

Green Bay kicks off its 2024 season versus the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil on Sept. 6.
