The Los Angeles Dodgers re-signed utility man Kiké Hernández to a one-year contract, they announced Monday.

Hernández's deal is worth $4 million, a source told Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.

The move comes after the Dodgers freed up a 26-man roster spot by trading outfielder Manuel Margot to the Minnesota Twins for shortstop prospect Noah Miller.

"Manny still fit really well," Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said, per Harris. "Kiké we just felt fit a little bit better, plus we know what he brings come postseason time, hopefully, in the clubhouse, all those things."

Hernández, 32, finished the 2023 campaign with the Dodgers after spending the previous two-and-a-half seasons with the Boston Red Sox. Before his stint in Beantown, he spent six seasons in Los Angeles.

Through 86 games with the Red Sox last year, Hernández hit a disappointing .222/.279/.320 with six homers and three steals before he was traded back to L.A. for two minor leaguers.

He improved slightly after rejoining the Dodgers, posting a .731 OPS (95 OPS+) with five homers and one stolen base over 54 contests.

Throughout his career, he's posted a 93 OPS+ while playing all three outfield positions, second base, shortstop, third base, and occasionally first base.
