Travis d'Arnaud extended his stay in Atlanta again.

The Braves announced Tuesday that they've signed the veteran catcher to a one-year, $8-million pact for the 2024 season. The agreement also includes a $8-million club option for 2025 with no buyout cost.

The contract essentially acts as an extension of d'Arnaud's current two-year, $16-million deal while also delaying a decision on his club option for another season. He agreed to these terms, which also contained a $8-million club option for 2024 with no buyout, in August 2021.

The 34-year-old joined the Braves before the 2020 season and has become a reliable and important piece in the team's recent success. He won a Silver Slugger in 2020 and was the Braves' starting catcher for their 2021 World Series championship run.

"He's really the glue for us in my mind," Braves president of baseball operations and general manager Alex Anthopoulos said, according to Kelly Crull of Bally Sports South. "... He's a great example. Beyond a great player and person, he's such a good example for everyone in the clubhouse. He sets the tone."

Though he was an All-Star last season, d'Arnaud has primarily served as a backup catcher to Sean Murphy - as well as occasional DH - when healthy in 2023. Despite missing time with a concussion, d'Arnaud entered play Tuesday sporting a .265/.338/.478 slash line with eight homers and 23 RBIs through his first 38 games this year.

A former first-round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies, d'Arnaud is a lifetime .253/.314/.430 hitter across parts of 11 seasons with four MLB teams.
