The Arizona Diamondbacks signed top outfield prospect Corbin Carroll to an eight-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday.

The deal is worth $111 million, sources told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. It also includes a $28-million club option in 2031 that can be bought out for $5 million, according to Nick Piecoro of AZCentral.com.

Carroll's pact is the largest contract ever signed by a player with less than 100 days of MLB service time and no foreign playing experience, according to Gilbert.

The 22-year-old comes into the 2023 campaign as the favorite to win National League Rookie of the Year after going deep four times with 14 RBIs and an .830 OPS across 32 games for Arizona last season. He slashed .307/.425/.611 with 24 homers and 31 stolen bases over 93 contests in the minors in 2022.

Carroll is currently ranked as the No. 2 prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
