Charles Oliveira has had a change of heart regarding his next opponent.

The former UFC lightweight champion said he's now open to facing Islam Makhachev for the vacant title, as long as the fight takes place in his native Brazil.

"Forget about Conor McGregor now. Forget it," Oliveira recently told Ag. Fight. "In Brazil, Charles Oliveira against Islam Makhachev. Is this the fight you want? So we will have it."

Less than a month ago, Oliveira was targeting what he said would be a "profitable" matchup with former two-division champ McGregor. But Makhachev - and his coach Khabib Nurmagomedov - have continued to press the UFC for a title shot in recent weeks, and it appears Oliveira is willing to grant him his wish.

"Do Bronx," who was stripped of the lightweight title after missing weight for his UFC 274 bout against Justin Gaethje in May, identified December or January as an ideal timeframe to face Makhachev. He said he's confident he'll come out of that fight victorious.

"Look, I won't say I'm going to submit or knock him out, but I'll beat him," Oliveira said. "Listen to this: I will beat Islam Makhachev."
