Jeff Tedford is headed back to Fresno State.

The Bulldogs announced Tedford will return for his second stint as head coach Wednesday.

"Jeff is a true Bulldog alumnus, an incredible coach and leader, and has continued to be a vital member of our Valley community," said athletic director Terry Tumey. "The pride and tradition of Bulldog Football is alive and well."

Tedford was an assistant at Fresno State from 1992-97 and then coached the school from 2017-19 before stepping down for health-related reasons.

The 60-year-old replaces Kalen DeBoer, who left Fresno State for Washington at the end of November.

Tedford posted a 26-14 record across three seasons with the Bulldogs. The team won at least 10 games in each of his first two campaigns on the sideline but won just four contests in his last year on the job.

He also coached Cal from 2002-12, going 82-57.
