Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Richard Sherman is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks with a Grade 2 calf strain, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Buccaneers officially placed Sherman on injured reserve Wednesday, making him ineligible to play again before Week 14.

Sherman went down during the pregame warmup ahead of Tampa Bay's 29-19 loss to the Washington Football Team.

"I doubt seriously if he'll be back anytime soon," head coach Bruce Arians said Monday when asked about Sherman's timeline, according to Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds.

The three-time All-Pro defensive back has appeared in three contests for the Buccaneers. He's recorded 11 tackles since signing with the club in September.

Sherman previously missed a few games due to a hamstring injury.

Dee Delaney replaced Sherman in the starting lineup but suffered a concussion in the loss to Washington.

Starting cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting and Carlton Davis are both on injured reserve, though Arians is hopeful the former can dress for Tampa Bay's Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants.
