Lou Will: 'This is probably my last season'

Atlanta Hawks guard and 17-year veteran Lou Williams believes this season could be his last in the NBA.

"I know this is probably my last season, I'll say that publicly," he told Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks in an interview Monday. "But I said that last time, so, who knows?"

Despite hedging slightly in his announcement, Williams, 35, admitted he would be at peace if he decided to hang up his boots at the end of the year. It would bring to an end a lengthy career in which he won three Sixth Man of the Year awards and suited up for six different franchises.

"I have the clarity, I'm OK with that," he said. "But I'm also OK with continuing to play if that's where it takes me. I'm prepared for the worst."

Williams was drafted in the second round with the 45th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2005 and made the jump to the NBA directly out of high school.

He spent seven seasons in Philadelphia before signing on for his first go-around with the Hawks in 2012. He then had short stints with the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Houston Rockets before joining the Los Angeles Clippers for three-and-a-half seasons.

In March, the Clippers traded him back to his hometown team in Atlanta. In a reserve role, he helped the Hawks reach the conference finals for the first time since 2015.
