Arizona State deputy athletic director Jean Boyd was informed during the winter about the football program's alleged recruiting violations, according to The Athletic's Doug Haller and Bruce Feldman.

The NCAA, which paused in-person recruiting for 15 months beginning last March due to the pandemic, recently opened an investigation into the Sun Devils after they allegedly hosted high school prospects on campus during that period.

It's unclear whether Boyd investigated the potential violations after hearing about them, a former athletic department staffer told Haller and Feldman. Boyd wouldn't comment on the situation Thursday.

Arizona State is also alleged to have paid for recruits' expenses during unofficial visits.

Boyd is responsible for overseeing the Sun Devils' football program alongside vice president and athletic director Ray Anderson.

A former Arizona State player, Boyd has been part of the school's athletics management for over 20 years.
