The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Donovan Smith agreed to a two-year, $31.8-million extension that will keep the left tackle under contract through the 2023 campaign, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal gives Smith $30 million in guaranteed money over the next two seasons, Schefter adds.

Smith was headed into the final year of his contract and was set to count $14.3 million against the salary cap. His new extension drops that figure to $3.5 million, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.

The 27-year-old has been a stalwart on the Buccaneers' offensive line, starting all but two games since being drafted in the second round in 2015.

Smith protected Tom Brady's blind side during Tampa Bay's Super Bowl-winning 2020 campaign. He was part of an offensive line that surrendered just 22 sacks during the regular season.
