Team USA is making the most of its down time during preliminary group play in Rio.
A day after demolishing China in their opener, U.S. shooting guards Klay Thompson and Jimmy Butler picked up the pigskin and hit the field with assistant coach Monty Williams.
Turns out, Williams has a cannon.
First, he hit a streaking Thompson with a perfect pass in stride as the guard burned Butler on a deep route.
Then Butler took his turn, and roasted Thompson right back.
For two of the NBA's best wing defenders, that's some pretty lousy coverage.
Thompson, it seems, didn't expect Williams to be able to convert the downfield heave.
"I didn't know he had that in him," Thompson said.
