Oilers sign Cam Talbot to 3-year contract extension worth reported $12.5M
The Edmonton Oilers have locked up a goalie.
Cam Talbot has agreed to a three-year, $12.5-million contract extension, the club announced Sunday.

The 28-year-old was one of Peter Chiarelli's first big acquisitions after being hired as the club's general manager last April, with a view towards parlaying Talbot's strong performance - albeit in a small sample size - with the New York Rangers into a starting gig for the perennially rebuilding Oilers.
In 26 appearances with the Oilers, Talbot's record of 8-13-3 isn't all that impressive, but he has posted a save percentage of .914, which is no small feat for a goalie playing behind a suspect defense.
He's been especially good of late, stopping 359 of 383 shots in 13 starts since Dec. 14, good for a save percentage of .937.
Talbot was set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end, and his current deal carries a cap hit of $1.45 million.
Fellow goaltender Anders Nilsson, who has also played well at times for the Oilers, is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.
