Penguins' Pouliot cited for public drunkenness
Pittsburgh Penguins' defensive prospect Derrick Pouliot was cited for public drunkenness by Wilkes-Barre City police, according to a police report.
Pouliot, who's been playing for the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, was involved in a dispute with a taxi driver early Sunday morning.
The 21-year-old, who was found intoxicated by police upon their arrival at the scene, was taken to the police station and issued a non-traffic citation, then released to a sober adult, Jonathan Bombulie of the Pittsburgh Tribune reports.
He was not in the Baby Penguins' lineup for Wednesday's game against St. John's, although head coach Mike Sullivan said he was dealing with a bruise that kept him off the practice ice.
Selected eighth overall in 2012, Pouliot is considered Pittsburgh's top defensive prospect. He recorded one goal and five assists in eight AHL games this season.
