Report: Former NHLer Ewen's death classified as suicide
Former NHLer Todd Ewen's death on Saturday appears to have been a suicide, according to CTV News.
The cause of death appears to have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Amanda Singroy of CTV News reports.
Ewen was an enforcer on the ice, amassing 1,911 penalty minutes in 518 career games, including 146 fighting majors.
He is the latest in a list of former NHL enforcers to die at an early age. In February, former Calgary Flames defenseman Steve Montador was found dead in his home. Montador, who was just 35, tallied 807 penalty minutes in 571 career games.
