Ducks' Wisniewski could play Monday if knee brace arrives on time
James Wisniewski is ready for his Anaheim Ducks debut - he's just waiting on his equipment.
The bone bruise that kept Wisniewski from playing following his trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets has healed, meaning the blue-liner could play in Monday's road game against the Vancouver Canucks if his custom knee brace arrives in time. Wisniewski doesn't feel comfortable playing without the brace on his right knee after undergoing multiple surgeries to repair his ACL.
According to Wisniewski, Ducks general manager Bob Murray is bringing the brace to Vancouver prior to Monday's contest.
"I guess it got to his house late (Sunday) night and hopefully it doesn't get lost on that flight," Wisniewski told Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times. "Hopefully I'll have it here by game time."
Wisniewski put the chances of the brace arriving on time at 95 percent. The 31-year-old is eager to join his new teammates in their fight to clinch the Pacific Division, but he and coach Bruce Boudreau are prepared to wait another game for his debut if necessary.
"We're trying to win games and get the team rolling going into the playoffs but at the same time it's not a necessity," Wisniewski said. "The team has been playing great and I want to get out there with them, but that's kind of a big issue making sure I feel comfortable and they feel comfortable and that sort of thing."
