Team USA names Olympic roster: Captain will be one of Parise, Backes, Brown, Kane or Callahan
According to Scott Burnside, who was embedded with the USA Hockey management team during their selection process, the captain of the American Olympic men's ice hockey team will be one of five primary candidates:
Zach Parise, David Backes, Dustin Brown, Patrick Kane and Ryan Callahan are all returning members of the '10 team. They will form the nucleus of the offensive group in Sochi. It is from this group a captain will emerge.
Of those five players three of them are currently captains for their respective teams (Brown, Callahan and Backes).
