Blackhawks sign Nazar to 7-year, $46.13M extension
The Chicago Blackhawks have locked up a key piece of their young core, agreeing to terms with forward Frank Nazar on a seven-year contract extension carrying an average annual value of $6.59 million, the team announced Thursday.
The deal begins in 2026-27. Nazar is entering the final season of his entry-level contract.
The pact is the largest ever for a forward with as little NHL experience as Nazar's 56 career games, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Kirill Kaprizov previously held that distinction with his five-year, $45-million contract signed in 2021 after just 55 contests.
"Frank elevated his game last season and has proven himself to be one of the top young talents in the league," Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said. "He drives play using his elite speed and playmaking abilities, creating problems for opponents and opportunities for teammates every night. Frank is an integral piece of our team, and we're thrilled to have him with us for the next eight seasons."
The 21-year-old tallied 12 goals and 14 assists in 53 games as a rookie in 2024-25.
The speedy, 5-foot-10 forward also helped the United States win gold medals at the 2024 World Junior Championship (eight points in seven games) and the 2025 World Championship (12 points in 10 games).
The Blackhawks drafted Nazar 13th overall in 2022.
