Vernon Hargreaves III

Position: CB
School: Florida
College Experience: Junior
Height: 5-10
Weight: 204 lbs.
Age: 20

NFL player comparison: Joe Haden

It's easy to see the comparisons between Hargreaves and Haden considering they both wore single digits as cornerbacks for the Florida Gators. They're both ultra competitive players and leaders on their respective defenses. They both specialize in press man coverage. Hargreaves isn't as physical as Haden, but instead elects to make plays by keeping his eyes in the backfield and trusting his instincts.

Draft Projection: Round 1 (Top 10)

Strengths

  • Twitchy. Has elite quickness and an ability to instantly trust his reads and react to the ball. Has quick enough hands to punch balls out of a receivers' grasp and pluck passes out of the air.
  • Instinctive. Can diagnose plays quickly and mirror receivers' routes while keeping his eyes in the backfield.
  • Great body control. Can bend and contort his body to make plays on the ball without interfering with receivers or taking himself out of plays.
  • Tough. Finishes his tackles and isn't afraid to come up and make plays in the run game.

Weaknesses

  • Short. Is susceptible to larger receivers going up over top of him and can play smaller than his size.
  • Over aggressive. Can get caught with his eyes in the backfield on double moves and pump fakes.
  • Lacking recovery speed. Doesn't have speed necessary to recover from mistakes and misreads.
