Get an in-depth look at the top prospects in this year's draft class leading up to the NFL draft, which takes place from April 28-30 in Chicago.

Laremy Tunsil

Position: OT
School: Mississippi
College Experience: Junior
Height: 6-5
Weight: 310 lbs.

NFL player comparison: Tyron Smith

Smith and Tunsil possess the same rare size-strength-speed combination. Smith's athleticism set him apart from every other tackle in the 2011 draft, as does Tunsil's in the league. Smith may have been slightly more explosive coming out of USC, but Tunsil is more polished and possesses a slightly stronger frame than (arguably) the best tackle in the NFL.

Draft Projection: Round 1 (Top-5 overall)

Strengths

  • Athleticism is off the charts for a man his size, showing off ideal footwork and balance in pass protection.
  • Possesses lateral quickness and strength, exhibited both on tape and at his pro day. Positioning and fundamentals are above average coming out of college.
  • Nimble, fluid, and flexible are all common words used to describe Tunsil's ability, and he should have no problem handling both speed and power rushers at the NFL level.

Weaknesses

  • Medical history is spotty with a gruesome broken leg/dislocated ankle injury suffered in 2014. Also suffered torn biceps during 2014 season. He never played a full slate of games during three seasons at Ole Miss.
  • Off-field concerns include a domestic violence charge (later dismissed) from 2015, a seven-game impermissible benefits suspension from NCAA, and his alleged attendance at a party in which teammate Robert Nkemdiche fell from a balcony.
  • Not a mauler or a pure-power blocker in the run game. Lower body strength a slight knock.
