Corey Coleman

Position: WR
School: Baylor
College Experience: Redshirt Junior
Height: 5-11
Weight: 194 lbs.
Age: 21

NFL player comparison: Golden Tate

Coleman has a similar build to Tate and both have shown an ability to make defenders miss in space. The Detroit Lions receiver is a more polished route-runner and does more work over the middle, but if Coleman can improve that part of his game when he reaches the pros, there's no reason to believe he can't put up numbers like Tate has in the last two seasons.

Draft Projection: Late first round

Strengths

  • A dangerous vertical threat. Exceptional speed allows him to get on top of coverage.
  • Can gain separation from corners with ease and uses his footwork to escape press coverage at the line of scrimmage.
  • Able to make defenders miss in space with sharp cuts.
  • Can elevate to win balls in the air despite his undersized stature.
  • Has a nose for the end zone. Posted a whopping 20 receiving touchdowns in 2015.
  • Versatile player that can return kicks and be a factor out of the backfield in the ground game.

Weaknesses

  • Lacks ideal bulk for an NFL receiver.
  • Rarely went over the middle in Baylor's offense and ran limited routes. Large amount of production came on hitches.
  • Can get complacent and lazy at times during running plays or with routes when the ball isn't coming his way.
  • Coming off sports hernia surgery that ended his season early.
