Dolphins release Brent Grimes

The Miami Dolphins announced the release of veteran cornerback Brent Grimes on Wednesday.
Officially parting ways with the nine-year veteran, as they were expected to heading into free agency, saves the Dolphins $6.5 million against the salary cap.
Though the six-time Pro Bowler has seen his production drop off of late, he'll draw his fair share of interest upon hitting the open market.
Byron Maxwell, whom the Dolphins reportedly acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, would step in as the No. 1 cornerback going forward.
