Peyton Manning 'near tears' during team meeting
The usually stoic Peyton Manning got emotional while addressing teammates ahead of what could be the final game of his career.
Denver Broncos president Joe Ellis told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio that Manning and DeMarcus Ware were both "near tears" during a team meeting Saturday night.
Head coach Gary Kubiak spoke to the team first, telling them what Super Bowl 50 means to him and laying out a blueprint for how they can defeat the Carolina Panthers.
"He told them he loved them," Ellis said.
After Kubiak spoke, it was Manning's turn to address the room.
"Peyton told a few jokes to lighten the mood," Ellis said, "but then he got very emotional (when talking about what the game meant to him). And so did DeMarcus. The room was silent. It was a very emotional gathering."
Manning didn't reveal if he plans to retire after Sunday, one source told Paolantonio.
