Seahawks' Kam Chancellor on ending holdout: 'I just feel like the time is now'
Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor says he's eager to get back to work after skipping his team's first two games in search of a new contract.
"I feel like the time is now," Chancellor said at his first press conference since ending his holdout and re-joining the Seahawks on Tuesday. "Time to get back to work."
Chancellor indicated he expects to be on the field Sunday when the Seahawks host the Chicago Bears: "I'm looking forward to playing in front of the 12s and hearing them roar."
While it's possible Chancellor plays Sunday, the Seahawks have a roster exemption until Oct. 6, meaning the team could hold off on activating him, according to Field Yates of ESPN.
The Seahawks stood firm throughout Chancellor's holdout, and it appears he won't gain any additional money on his deal.
Asked about his contract situation, he said he'll wait until after the season to handle the business side of football.
Curiously, Chancellor said he'll forgive those (ostensibly his teammates and Seahawks fans) who don't understand his motivations for holding out. Some have argued it's Chancellor who should ask for forgiveness.
Either way, it seems both parties are ready to put the dispute in the past and move forward together. With Chancellor back in the fold, the 0-2 Seahawks' chances of earning their first win in their home opener on Sunday are greatly boosted.
