Report: Texans cut the cord on 2014 3rd-rounder Louis Nix

The Houston Texans began the process of cutting down to 53 players by handing defensive tackle Louis Nix his walking papers, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The move is a surprising one, as Nix joined the Texans as a third-round pick only one season ago.

Nix didn't play a snap as a rookie and was placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury in late September.

Nix started all four of the Texans' preseason games in place of veteran Vince Wilfork, but it's apparent the Texans' coaches didn't see enough potential in the sophomore to warrant keeping him around.
