Report: Patriots' LeGarrette Blount suspended 1 game for substance abuse violation

Robert Deutsch / USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount has been suspended for the first regular-season game of 2015, according to Kimberley A. Martin of Newsday.

Blount is being suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy, according to Martin. He will be eligible to participate in training camp and preseason games.

Multiple reports are citing the suspension is for Blount's arrest last August, when he and Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell were charged with marijuana possession after being pulled over by police. Bell is also expected to receive discipline from the league, as he was charged with DUI as well.

Blount rejoined the Patriots late last season after being released by the Steelers. He was a pivotal part of New England's run to the Super Bowl, rushing for 148 yards and three touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC title game.
