Jaguars' Sanders says receiving corps 'wa-a-a-a-y better' than last year

The Jacksonville Jaguars addressed a need at the wide receiver position earlier this month, spending second-round picks on Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson.

Ace Sanders, a Jags wideout who is entering his second year with the team, already notices a significant improvement.

“Oh, yeah – this is wa-a-a-a-y better,” Sanders told the team's website

“It’s a great situation we have going on, because we have so many weapons now,” he said. “We can rotate in. We can go all out. If someone’s coming in – me, (second-year veteran) Mike (Brown) or any of the young guys, the rookies coming in – they can all fill the void. It’s a great situation.”

The Jags finished 22nd in passing last year and needed to shake things up for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the likelihood of former top-five pick Justin Blackmon returning to the team from his second suspension for the 2014 campaign is slim.

Combine that with Jacksonville drafting Blake Bortles at third overall and it was clear they needed to give him more weapons, for whenever he eventually takes over the starting role.

Sanders is most excited about the fact that each receiver will be learning all the different wideout spots, which should give the Jaguars more flexibility on offense.

“Z, X … that’s not how our offense is,” Sanders said. “We don’t want to be stuck being a one-dimensional team. Maybe one play we might like this matchup better, so we need you to read this route. We need you to know what’s going on. The way we set it up is perfect. It’s perfect.”
