Shedeur Sanders to don No. 12 with Browns
Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders will wear No. 12 ahead of his rookie season after exclusively wearing No. 2 throughout college and high school.
The Browns released the jersey numbers for their rookie class Tuesday, with the former Colorado standout poised to wear a different number to begin his pro career. Cleveland drafted Sanders in the fifth round in April after he was projected to be among the first two quarterbacks taken in the lead-up to the first round.
Wide receiver DeAndre Carter, who signed with the Browns as a free agent in April, is set to don No. 2 for the 2025 season.
Sanders' new number was made famous by seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who also mentored the 23-year-old. However, Cleveland noted that rookie jersey numbers are subject to change before the season starts.
Sanders isn't the only rookie passer on the Browns with a new digit. Third-round pick Dillon Gabriel will wear No. 5 instead of the No. 8 he wore throughout most of his collegiate career after quarterback Kenny Pickett claimed the number with the Browns. Veteran Joe Flacco will sport No. 15, the same number he had during his first stint with Cleveland in 2023.
Sanders and Gabriel will wear the Browns' colors for the first time Friday when the team opens its three-day rookie minicamp.
