Report: Packers to try out troubled former Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla
The Green Bay Packers are taking a shot on troubled former Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla.
Among the #Packers tryout players is former Oregon TE Colt Lyerla. Google him. Not enough twitter space to adequately describe him.

Very few people were surprised to see Colt Lyerla go undrafted last weekend. Though he has early-round talent from a physical standpoint, he carries major red flags off the field.
At six-foot-four and 242 pounds, and just 21 years old, Lyerla's raw measurables are enticing. He reportedly runs a 4.61 40-yard dash - scarcely slower than top-ten draft pick Eric Ebron.
The problem with Lyerla lies entirely off the field. He was suspended by Oregon after reportedly missing meetings, practices and classes.
Then, instead of earning his way back on to the team, he quit.
And then things got even worse.
Lyerla was arrested for possession of cocaine after a police officer reportedly discovered him getting high in a parked vehicle. He later pled guilty.
Lyerla's leash in Green Bay will certainly be very short, but this is a low risk, high reward move that could pay off for the tight end-needy Packers.
