The Pittsburgh Steelers added to their running back depth Friday, signing former New England Patriots bruiser LeGarrette Blount to a two-year deal.

Blount will serve as a backup to Steelers starter Le'Veon Bell, and his physical running style should make him an immediate favorite of Steelers fans.

The Baltimore Ravens remained in the running for Blount's services "until the end," reports Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun, but they couldn't have wanted him that badly - the Steelers told Blount to wait almost a full week before visiting the team because the team wanted to focus on the NFL owners meetings in Florida.

Wilson says the Patriots were also in the mix, but didn't want to make the same financial commitment as the Steelers.
