Report: Former Buffalo LB Khalil Mack runs blazing 4.45 40-yard dash at Pro Day
NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock caused a minor stir in the NFL draft community when he said he would take Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack with the No. 1 overall pick -- ahead of Jadeveon Clowney.
Maybe Mayock knows what he's talking about, after all.
Update from Pro Day of Buffalo LB Khalil Mack: One longtime NFL scout just said he clocked Mack in the 40 at 4.45...

Mack's reported time is unofficial, but even if his final clocking is a few hundredths of a second slower, it's still a remarkably fast time for a player who measured in at 6'3" and 251 pounds at the combine.
NFL executives don't make draft decisions based on 40-yard dash times at Pro Days (they're always significantly faster than at the combine, though Mack ran a 4.65 there), but an outlier time like this can cement a player's status on draft boards.
Mack may have just ensured he'll hear his named called among the first five players in Radio City Music Hall this May.
