Cowboys hiring Eagles DBs coach Parker as DC
The Dallas Cowboys are hiring Christian Parker as their new defensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday.
Parker, 34, spent the past two seasons as the Philadelphia Eagles' passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach on coordinator Vic Fangio's staff. He previously spent multiple years with the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos as an assistant.
Parker had a "very impressive" in-person interview with the Cowboys on Wednesday, sources told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
In Dallas, he'll replace Matt Eberflus, who lost his job at the end of the regular season after the Cowboys ranked dead last in points allowed. The team's defensive unit has ranked in the bottom five in points and yards allowed each of the past two years.
Parker will be the fourth defensive coordinator in as many seasons for the Cowboys, who have switched DCs every year since Dan Quinn left to become the Washington Commanders' head coach in February 2024.
The Eagles have built a top-10 defense since Fangio and his staff joined the team. Two Philadelphia defensive backs - Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean - earned first-team All-Pro selections in 2025 while working with Parker.
DeJean reacted to Parker's deal with Dallas on social media.
