Browns' Garrett: I expect to win DPOY, Super Bowl this season

Browns star pass-rusher Myles Garrett has lofty goals for himself and Cleveland heading into the 2025 season.

"I expect to get to the Super Bowl. That's our expectation every year, and I expect to run back Defensive Player of the Year," Garrett told reporters Wednesday.

Garrett won the best defensive player honor in 2023 and finished third in voting for the award last season. The edge rusher signed a four-year, $160-million extension in March after initially requesting a trade out of Cleveland just a month before inking the deal.

The 29-year-old has garnered a terrific individual resume during his eight-year career, but team success has been another story. Since the Browns selected Garrett first overall in 2017, they've racked up a 53-78-1 record with only one playoff victory.

Like in past years during Garrett's NFL run, Cleveland has serious question marks at the quarterback position heading into the season. Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel are in a four-person battle to win the No. 1 signal-caller job.

"That's got nothing to do with me, that's all up to Kevin (Stefanski)," Garrett said with a smile when asked about the team's quarterback competition. "Whoever he decides is the best fit for what we're trying to do offensively, Game 1, we're going to rock beside. I think all these guys are very capable. We have confidence in all of them."

The Browns kick off their season against the Cincinnati Bengals Sept. 7.
