Commanders' Allen out for season with pec injury
Washington Commanders defensive lineman Jonathan Allen suffered a season-ending pectoral tear against the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Monday.
"It's a big blow for us. ... We'll certainly miss him this season, and he'll likely have surgery in the days ahead," Quinn told reporters, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The 29-year-old was ruled out of Sunday's game late in the fourth quarter. He finished with two tackles while playing 54% of the defensive snaps.
Allen was selected in the first round of the 2017 draft. He signed a four-year, $72-million extension with the club in 2021 and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
Washington's defense ranks 29th in EPA/play and success rate after six games, according to Ben Baldwin's database.
Daron Payne, second-round rookie Jer'Zhan Newton, and Phidarian Mathis are the other interior defensive linemen on Washington's depth chart.
