Report: Colts, Texans interested in Hunter
A pair of AFC South teams are pursuing Danielle Hunter, the top free-agent edge rusher still available this offseason.
The Indianapolis Colts have had talks with Hunter, according to Stephen Holder of ESPN.
The Texans are also interested in the four-time Pro Bowler, who has mutual interest in joining Houston, sources told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. However, a deal reportedly isn't imminent.
Hunter set a career single-season high with 16.5 sacks in 2023 and led the NFL with 23 tackles for loss. The 29-year-old, who battled injuries in 2020 and 2021, played all 17 games for a second straight season.
The 2015 third-round pick has spent his entire eight-season NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings, recording 87.5 sacks across 119 appearances. He ranks sixth in franchise history in career sacks.
The edge rusher position was a main need for Minnesota this offseason. The team signed pass-rusher Jonathan Greenard to a four-year, $76-million contract and brought in linebackers Andrew Van Ginkel and Blake Cashman on the first day of free agency.
