Minshew won't cede starting job to Lawrence: 'No. 2 isn't an option for me'
Gardner Minshew is going to odd lengths to fight for the starting quarterback job with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Though 2021 No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence is expected to start for Jacksonville from Day 1 this season, Minshew is getting backed up to ensure he won't be a backup.
Gardner Minshew on the #Greenlight podcast with @JOEL9ONE said he is ready to compete with Trevor Lawrence during camp.

"In preparation for the competition, I haven't taken a shit in weeks. No. 2 isn't an option for me," Minshew told retired NFLer Chris Long on the "Green Light with Chris Long" podcast.
Minshew burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2019, throwing for 21 touchdowns against six interceptions in 12 games as a starter. The 25-year-old was in and out of the lineup in 2020, starting just eight games and leading the Jaguars to victory in only one of them.
Lawrence, 21, enters the NFL out of Clemson as a highly touted passer following one of the most decorated careers in college football history.
