Packers' Aaron Jones suspended 2 games

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones has been suspended two games without pay for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, the team announced Tuesday.

In October, Jones was arrested during a traffic stop in Ashwaubenon, Wis. He pleaded no contest to a marijuana-related traffic charge.

"I accept it, take responsibility for it, and regret the mistake that I made during the 2017 season which led to the punishment... I apologize to all impacted and promise that this will never happen again and when I touch the field again it's going to be special," Jones said in a statement.

The former fifth-round selection is eligible to participate in all team activities during training camp and preseason, but won't be available when Green Bay plays the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings to begin their 2018 campaign.

Jones was set to compete with Jamaal Williams for the Packers' starting running back role, but the suspension will give Williams the inside track for playing time early on. Ty Montgomery is also expected to play a part.

Jones rushed for 448 yards as a rookie in 2017, scoring four touchdowns in 12 games, including four starts.
